Biografi
March 2000 our walk for total world domination started and what we though would be a easy walk have so far been a small struggle. You know the kind of walk when after a mile or so your legs are getting numb but you stll have half the distance left. But we are Swedish and you know what they say about Swedish men right?THEY NEVER GIVE UP!
Everything started, as mentioned earlier, March 2000.Percy had some time of from his other band,Glockdust,he had some songs lying around wich he didn`t know what to do with.He thought of recording them by himself and send them to recordlabels when Joe suggested pretty quietly that "Why don`t we form a band and record these fuckers?"
He had been nagging on Percy for some time to start something but as Percy was involved with Glockdust he never did believe that it would happen,it was just one of those things that get`s brought up under heavy drinking.
But this time Percy was sick and tired of waiting for the damn recording that Glockdust was in the middle of finishing off so he accepted the offer from Joe to help him out.
Many nights with beer and wine was spent in Percys apartment to get the songs ready for recording. They got pretty heavily re-arranged during those nights.
They didn`t have a reharsal space at that time so everything was fixed in their heads.Drums,Bas,vocals,overdubs.

In the beginning the plan was that Percy was going to play the drums, bas, guitars and sing.Everything was fine by Percy except the vocal part.He had sang on a demo before but that was many sunrises earlier in time.Joe suggested that they should try out his brother Stefan Turlock. He didn`t really sing but he said he would like to try, so they did.
A couple of more nights with beer and wine was spent in Percys apartment while trying to figure out Stefans vocal abillitys. Then the time came to record the songs.
Percy suggested that they would use the same guy and studio that Glockdust was using for their record. That beeing Stefan Olsson who owns Sub Sonic Studio in Upplands Väsby.
No one had any problems with that so off they went.

This was Joe`s and Stefans first time in a studio so they didn`t really know their way around
the studio but everything went smoothly and the guys finshed 3 songs with mix in their sheduled 16 hours.
Percy played the drums, guitars and handled the bas and Joe played rythm guitar around that time but know of course he plays mean bas!The 3 songs from that session was MISS WEIRD,I LIKE YOU DEAD and HELLO.

Ok,so now their first demo was finished and it was time to book some live gigs and ship the demo to all the recordlabels in the world. The only problem was in order to do gigs you would have to have a drummer! So the search began......

After countless breakdowns Percy found an add in the yellow pages (how original) in wich a guy was looking for a band to play with who was into rockabilly(?).That add really set Percy on fire...(what!!!!!!?)
The guy behind was no other than Andreas.
A quiet guy who really didn`t say much and did very much.He lived in an abandoned horse house outside of Stockholm so Percy and Joe moved their stuff into his horse house.
This place really gave you the creeps. It was located pretty much out in the nowhere and it was dark as hell! But they could reharse as much as they wanted and this place really set The Shopliftingangels off.The songs just came in masses and besides the stench it was great.

The guys played some gigs and then entered the studio again to record their second demo"Lack Of Good Music Is The Root To All Evil".This time they recorded 3 songs "DON´T USE ME","BORED",and "EAT THEM FLIES" and now they had a real drummer and Joe swiched to bass.
In the song "Eat Them Flies" the guys sampled a vocal track from the motion picture Bondock Saints. And when they were going to up-load it onto their mp3.com site, mp3.com refused to accept it unless they scrolled the voices so that no one would recognise that it was from that certain movie. The way they solved that problem was that they returned to Sub Sonic Studio and just recorded the vocal part backwards!Go and listen to the track and see if you recognise it.On shopliftingangels.com it is as it was original recorded but on the mp3.com site it is backwards.

One day a mail came from PROMOPOP,a production company who had heard of The Shopliftingangels and asked if thay would be interested in participate on a compilation and doing a small tour around Sweden?(Uh?)
Hell yeah!

So in September 2000 the guys entered the stage in Norrköping.(P.O.P Stopp) and did their first gig together EVER!Before the gig a local press reporter had been doing an interview with the guys and asked them loads of questions. The show went like you would excpect from a band that plays their first gig.Terrible! But Practise makes perfect......
Now the shit hit the fan.Stefan called Percy one(!) day prior to the next gig in Linköping and said that his throwt was fucked up and that he wouldn`t be able to perform that gig!
WOW what do you do?
Percy called the rest of the guy`s and told them it was practise time! The gig in Linköping was lost but the final gig in Stockholm could be saved. There was no time in taking chances on Stefans voice so Percy said that he would sing at Alcasar,(the place in Stockholm).
All their friends was going to come to the gig so there was no way in hell that they would cancel that gig aswell.

The gig went pretty well concidering the circumstances and the audience certainly enjoyed it!It was packed! On this tour four other bands participated,Muffin Man from Stockholm,The Spitts from Pennybridge,Twopointeight from Stockholm and Loud Silence from Malmoe. It was fun to be part of that(Boooooze!) But it still hurt that they had to cancel the Linköping gig.
After that gig it was unspoken of, but everyone knew that Stefan was quitting The Shopliftingangels as a vocalist and Percy was the new "singer".
As he was writing and is writing all the material it was so much smoother if he handled the vocals aswell. And practise makes perfect.....

The guys continued to reharse and started to get ready for one more assault in the studio.A new demo Titled "Lollipops For The Loaded" and 4 songs was ready to be recorded and as usual they used Stefan Olssons studio again.
The songs recorded during this session was "Let The Freakboy In","What hides Inside","The God Of All You Know" and "We Are Naked".
This Demo is real "metal"sounding. The reason for that was that Percys guitar amplifier was on repairs so he borrowed a amp from the guitarist in Human Rage in wich Stefan(the studio guy) is the drummer.Since Human Rage is METAL and The Shopliftingangels is NOT there was a bizzare mix of pop songs mixed with metal guitars. It sounded cool in the studio but when you got the cd home you got tired of the production pretty fast.

They shipped the CD to various record labels and 25 Records in England got in touch and asked if they could use "What Hides Inside" for a compilation CD called "Out Of Order".
And of course they could.
The compilation contained songs from 20 different bands in the alternative genre and The Shopliftingangels song was the second most played song from that compilation on the radio in Europe and got some great reviews aswell.
Then the song "Let The Freakboy In" is going to be on two compilations in the US.One is on GoldrecordMusic and is aimed for college radio and is going to be sent out to 912 stations all over the US and the other project that involvs "Let The Freakboy In" is a MP3 CD wich is going out free with a MP3 Player wich is going to be launched on the market soon in the states. However, these two projects seems to have lost some speed so it`s
future is uncertain. And "Let The Freakboy in" was the third most played power pop song at mp3.com in Europe and earned The Shopliftingangels a royalty check of 107 Dollars!

Around this time Percy and Joe was getting tired of Andreas low key profile and fired him. They simply went out to the Horse House and said to Andreas "You are done".They marched in and grabbed their stuff and said goodbye to Andreas forever.
A couple of months with no activity followed and both Joe and Percy was getting pretty restless. One day Percy was looking in the yellowpages (as usual) when he saw an ad and the guy in the ad was looking for a "plain and simple rockband" and that really set Percy on fire!(Not again!)
The guy seemed cool on the phone and he was into garagerock and metal and rock and pop so they set up a date and he got the CD and of he went to learn the songs.
They guys name was "Z".A real nice fellow.Only problem was that he supported swedish fotball team ,Hammarby IF!
Anyway, the guys reharsed and started to gear up for another studio session in SubSonic Studio to record "Paranoid Elite".This time 5 songs was sheduled and with mix it is damn tight clock wise.
The Songs were "Our Place To Sin",Famous",Paranoid Elite","Coming Home" and "Gutterwhore".On this CD Percy finally found how he wanted The Shopliftingangels to sound. This shows in the writing.Short with no noncens bits in the songs.

With the demo done the guys headed to Gothenbourg (The second largest city in Sweden) to do a show at "Kåren".The show went great but afterwards "Z" felt that he wasn`t giving the band 100% at all times both on stage and off so he said that he planned to leave the band but said that he would stay until Percy and Joe had found a drummer to replace him with and that was sort of kind of him to do.
So the guys asked Fabbe who played drums in Percys other band Glockdust if he would be interested in sitting in on the drums?.And he said yes so that went pretty easily.
However,Fabbe plays in a metal band called Selph so he is not a full member of the band but he plays with them and he is a nice guy and a excellent drummer so they can`t complain but the idea is of course to have a full member behind the drums.

Now the guys entered the studio again to record their 5th demo,"Kill The Brakes"(2002.02.09)
The track list was "See,Feed and Breed","The Letting Go...","She`s Out Of My Leauge" and "Wouldn`t Mean A Thing".This CD kicks total ass!!!The production is awesome, the songs is awesome and even the CD sleeve is awesome, everything is AWESOME and this is really how the band should sound and feel like.

Feeling uplifted after the awesome recording of "Kill The Brakes" the guys was eager to repeat or surpass that recording so they almost emediatly booked a studio session and 4 weeks later "The Truth Hurts.." (2002.03.10) was done. This 3 track CD was recorded and mixed in 8 hours and it`s sound is more edgy and "Right on" then ever before..The tracks on the CD are "Pretty Illusion","Nosebleed" and "Tear This Dream Apart".Now with 6 new songs The Shopliftingangels are unstoppable!

April 4th (2002.04.20) they entered the same studio and recorded "Burning Rubber" and 3 songs saw the light."Can`t afford a Ford","Just A Notion" and "My Wound".This CD saw the guys take the music one step further. It shows that The Shopliftingangels have found it`s place in the world of labeling. One song really stood out ,and that was "Can`t Afford A Ford".A song wich really wrote it self.It has become a pretty popular tune in TSA circles and deserves to be appreciated by the whole world.(And who knows?)

The 11the of may 2002 the guys played their first gig in a long time at Caffreys Pub in Solna. A pub wich the guys know pretty well since Solna is their home town and Caffreys is their main place for drinking beers and watching footballgames. The show was over the top!So many friends showed up and still there was loads of people missing so next time they will pack the place. And leave Chow a happy man!The Show lasted 1hr 15 mins and 14 tracks were ripped off during the evning. The played the Green Day song "Basket Case" as the only cover. Don`t miss The Shopliftingangels when they come to your town!(If they do)

So here we are now at the end of this history lesson of The Shopliftingangels and please be sure to check it out from time to time cause time make things change.....
